Betty will teach a Beginner Linoleum Block Printmaking Class at her home in Chêne-Bourg and it will be in two sessions, the second date being Monday October 26. Please register for both dates and you will receive additional information in the confirmation letter.
Come discover the art of linoleum block printing in a fun, relaxed, and hands-on beginner class! It will take two sessions, and you’ll create your own hand-carved linoleum block and learn how to use it to print an image that can be reproduced again and again.
In our first session, we’ll start with a brief introduction to linoleum block printing, the tools we’ll be using, and some basic carving techniques. After a little practice, you’ll choose an image or design, transfer it onto a small, approximately postcard-sized linoleum block, and begin the carving process.
During our second session, we’ll finish up any carving and move on to the really fun part—printing! We’ll experiment with inks, play with different colors and color combinations, and see how the same carved image can take on a completely different look depending on how you choose to print it. By the end, you’ll have your own finished prints as well as a carved block that you can use to recreate your image again and again.
No previous printmaking experience is necessary. Just bring your creativity and come ready to try something new!
Each participant will take home their own creation.
All materials and DIY supplies are included.
A contribution fee of chf 15 will be asked to cover the material’s costs. Please bring this in cash and pay directly to Betty only the during the first session.
